[8/26/18] a couple things i learned last week

1). Hydraulic fracking is gnarly and bad news for the water crisis.

Hydraulic fracturing involves the pressurized injection of fluids commonly made up of water and chemical additives into a geologic formation. The pressure exceeds the rock strength and the fluid opens or enlarges fractures in the rock. As the formation is fractured, a “propping agent,” such as sand or ceramic beads, is pumped into the fractures to keep them from closing as the pumping pressure is released. The fracturing fluids (water and chemical additives) are then returned back to the surface. Natural gas will flow from pores and fractures in the rock into the well for subsequent extraction. Fracking – the extreme oil and gas extraction method that involves blasting millions of gallons of water mixed with toxic chemicals underground at enormous pressures to break apart subterranean rock – has exploded in the last decade….

2). As companies make more $$$, workers take home less. Surprise!

income inequality

3).Marcel Vogel, a scientist at IBM who helped develop the magnetic stripe also pioneered the field of crystal healing where crystals are used to “amplify, coalesce, and focus thoughts and energy that you wish to direct into your body/mind.

marcel vogel

The crystal is a neutral object whose inner structure exhibits a state of perfection and balance. When it is cut to the proper form and when the human mind enters into relationship with its structural perfection, the crystal emits a vibration which extends and amplifies the power of the user’s mind. Like a laser, it radiates energy in a coherent, highly concentrated form, and this energy may be transmitted into objects or people at will. - Marcel Vogel
